Rough Terrain Forklift
The rough terrain forklift is best for applications at construction sites and various environments where there is no paved surface. This particular type of forklift is utilized to transport materials around lumberyards.

These types of forklifts are really meant for rough terrain. However, the machine is top heavy and should be carefully handled in rough areas. The equipment should be level with all tires on the ground when lifting.

Steering is more challenging at higher speeds. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration does not set speed restrictions on forklifts. Then again, drivers are responsible for operating forklifts at a speed that is safe, particularly if driving on rough terrain and when turning.

Not raising a load while operating on an incline would prevent a tip over. The load must be on the uphill side of the equipment if driving up an incline. If driving down an incline, it is good safety practice to back down.
