Forklifts are vehicles usually found within factories, warehouses and different work sites where it is necessary to move heavy materials from one location to another. The mast is the mechanism located on the front of the forklift that hydraulically lowers and raises the load. The "cat" is the protected area where the forklift driver sits.
Forklifts could lift loads that weigh between one to five tons. Several types can be used to lift shipping containers and much heavier loads.
Forklift tires must be checked and maintained regularly. The types of tires on different forklifts vary based on factors like for instance ground surfaces, frequency of use and weight of the loads. Each and every driver of a forklift should have access to replacement tires, a forklift jack and tire press.
Tire Maintenance Instructions
Perform tire inspections on a regular basis. Watch for indications of wear and damage to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40%, it must be replaced.
When you purchase tires, be certain you purchase the right kind - polyurethane, solid or pneumatic.
When the tire needs replacing, position the forklift jack under the tire and lift the forklift high enough that you can easily change the tires.
To remove the damaged tire, pull the tire from the rim using the tire press. Install the new tire and properly secure it. If you are changing more than one tire and you have just one jack, lower the forklift, then reposition the jack at the next tire.
On-site tire repair could be performed by a repair company. If the tire is too large for both mobile and in-house tire presses, the tire which is damaged should be transported to a shop that has a stationary tire press.
