The forklift is an important piece of machine in most businesses which operate warehouses, distribution centers, industrial and storage handling facilities. This great machine, the forklift is constructed of numerous components, such as the essential carriage, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Forklifts normally have a range of attachments too. The following are a few of the most essential parts of a lift truck.
Forklift Engine - the lift truck is made with a power source at the rear of the machinery. Various types of forklift truck have various kinds of engine which need varying power sources. Like for example, a lift truck with an IC engine can have as its power source any of the following: CNG gas, LP gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Frame of The Truck - The frame of the truck is the base of the forklift and the most essential of all the lift truck parts. This forms the core of the machine. All other forklift components are connected to the base, like for instance the axles, mast, wheels counterweight and overhead guard. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks may be part of the frame assembly as well.
Counterweight Lift Truck Parts - While lifting heavy cargo, the counterweight enables the machinery to be balanced. This specific component is cast iron and comes connected to the back of the forklift. The counterbalance balances the truck frame in order to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery provides balance and may work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this area is where the operator sits and drives the machinery. Some lift trucks have a cab area which is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are many parts situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such important components like the steering wheel, operator controls, seats, pedals, levers and switches. The dashboard has operator readouts.
