Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places orderly and to pile up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck can be utilized. The reach truck is available in several types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The simplest kind is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular version consists of telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet has to go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This particular model is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
In nearly all warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and can increase production while maximizing available storage space.
